Student Ministry at LBC

Master of Arts in Ministry – Student Ministry Concentration

Lancaster Bible College offers an accredited graduate degree in Master of Arts in Ministry – Student Ministry Concentration. This degree is designed for adult learners who are employed full-time and is structured to provide convenient and flexible scheduling options to accommodate prior commitments while you continue your education. This program is available both on a 1 year fast track and as a 2 year traditional schedule.

The Student Ministry concentration in the Master of Art in Ministry degree program is focused on educating and equipping men and women to lead student ministries in church and church-related contexts.

Student ministry has seen many changes throughout the past decade. Changes such as students’ increased access to technology and the rise of issues like anorexia, panic disorders and cutting, coupled with youth culture’s increased dominance in society, have caused the climate and setting of student ministry to shift dramatically. Because of these shifts, churches began to see the need to staff student ministry areas in a full time capacity.

These rapid changes in both church and culture have produced and urgent need for fully equipped, trained and skilled student ministry workers and professionals. Our program is focused on educating and equipping student ministry leaders to meet this demand.

Bachelor of Science in Bible – Student Ministry Major

Lancaster Bible College also offers an accredited 4 year Bachelor of Science in Bible – Student Ministry Major. Currently, there are approximately 80 students enrolled in the undergraduate program preparing for Student Ministry through classes, internships, and travel learn opportunities.

Students will be prepared to engage in disciple-making ministry through developing a self-awareness of character and competencies for the purpose of peer care and peer evangelism. The Student Ministry major focuses on developing competencies in both internal (spiritual formation, character and soul care) and external (skill sets) areas.

We will teach you how to care for your own soul, and then how to provide soul care for others as you engage in student ministry. You will be qualified to work in student ministry, shepherding, and leadership roles in churches, teen centers, and mission organizations, as well as in non-profit Christian organizations.
